Summer 2023-2024 at Sunnyside North

Return to Discussions

My first visit for this summer season found Sunnyside North being enjoyed by over 80 people including around half-a-dozen women. The sun was strong and the water felt nice, even with the reported temperature of 15.4C/60F in 27C/80F air, although I only went in waist deep to the water mid-tide. Saw a couple of jellyfish in the water as well as a number of washed-up ones on the sand.

The sand itself is reasonably well distributed now from the southern point to the small creek (which had flow all the way across the sand - first time I saw that) and the northernmost part was mostly rocks, although passable. Beyond the northern point onto Moondah Beach, there's also good sand at the moment if you like that area.

The apprach from the Sunnyside carpark was partly sandy and partly very rocky, although that impression may be more about my unconditioned feet at this time of the year. Wear shoes if you're sensitive, but getting in is 'normal' from the carpark and slightly difficult from Moondah.

The carpark is unchanged and news reports of metered parking are yet to come to fruition. The carpark was quite full when I arrived (with some cars on the approach road) but I found a spot on the gravel section. It was busier when I left with more people squeezing onto the dirt section and more cars up the road. There were a few textiles at Sunnyside proper at the carpark which may have added to its congestion.

Time only really permits me to get down once a week so I'm dome for now (also good to let the skin recover). I'm envious of the regulars, both for the time they can spend there and their amazing tans.

Bugger, this is my first time back to Sunnyside in over a year, spend most of what little time I get at either Oaks East @ Cape Patterson or beaches on Phillip Island like Forrest Caves East or Bore Beach in San Remo. Check out nudist compass for more locations

There'll be someone there. If you're less shy than me, I'm sure you'll be able to socialise with someone there!

The last day of summer? With the equinox almost here and the last fey of warm weather forecast for a while it was good that I had time to visit. The fact it's been overcast today and possible storms were forecast meant I was one of a small number to enjoy the conditions. I counted 20 at one stage including two females. The 'usual' crowd was absent.

Anyway it was plenty warm enough (peaking around 29C/85F) and the breeze created nice waves to splash around in while bringing in lots of fragments of seaweed.

A great day to enjoy the warmth, the sand and the water as I wonder about whether another chance to visit shall come.

The last pleasant day of the season saw the temperature fail to quite reach 20C at Sunnyside, but the negligible breeze and sunny skies made up for it. A pleasant day enjoyed by numbers in the low twenties for the time I was there with only a few braving the water which is currently measured at 17C. Worth going as the weather gets cooler and wetter later in the week.
