Reservations are not required for the communal mandatory-nude soaking area (called "Desert Pete"). I've never rented one of the private soaking sections so take this for what it's worth; any time I've gone it hasn't seemed so busy that you'd need to reserve one of those, but then again, I haven't been there on a Friday or Saturday evening when attendance might be higher.
