About XKCDGeek
Naturism just kind of happened. I remember actually "practicing" being naked before I started junior high because I knew I was going to have to use the locker room and I didn't want to be nervous. I'm past that now. I guess it started with wandering around the locker room naked in college or trying to find a place to tan in the woods by campus. Who tans in the woods? I probably should have known right then. What really got me into it was when I took a trip to Fire Island, took a deep breath and dropped my shorts on the beach. It was so liberating and amazing. I've never looked back.
I went through my closet a while back and got rid of most of my clothes. I realized that I didn't have them for me, but to project a false image of myself to others. I only kept what truly made me happy. I've come to embrace a "naked under my clothes" philosophy. Clothes don't exist to hide my nakedness or mask who I am. Instead, they provide a personal space in which my naked self can live authentically no matter where I am. When I'm out, I sometimes think "naked under my clothes," and I immediately stand straighter and walk more confidently. I like the person I am!
Naturism is about connecting and healing for me. It's helped me integrate and ground myself, becoming more aware of who I am, both inside and out. Accepting and becoming one with myself has enabled me to put some significant health problems behind me. My journey experiencing, and then becoming free of, "terminal" cancer has been a beautiful spiritual and holistic time in my life that has transformed me into a person I love and respect. Feel free to ask. I'm well and happy right now and will freely admit to it. The next 50 years are going to be amazing!
For me, naturism isn't about exhibitionism, voyeurism or sex. That's not why I'm here. Lewd "compliments" are offensive and unwelcome. If you want to flirt, be sweet about it. Gentleness and compassion will be reciprocated in kind.
I've come to like the German word, "textiler" and its pronunciation - tex-teel-er. It sets it apart as its own word with its own meaning. Textiler aren't just non-naturists, they're anyone who tries to suppress what doesn't conform to their norms. We all have many textiler in our lives, but it's our decision to give them power or not. Personally, I'm not going to let them win.
I'm a pretty down-to-earth nice guy who happens to enjoy social naturism and good conversation with other men. One of the things I enjoy the most about naturism is the opportunity to meet and get to know people I'd never meet otherwise. My life is much more interesting as a result.
If you want to know more, send a message! I make a pretty decent friend.

Who I'd like to meet
I'm definitely looking to meet guys locally to hang out with in person. What's the point of social nudism if you're not social? I do try to say hi to people who look at my profile or to people whose cameras I view in the chat room. It feels polite and respectful.I enjoy chatting with people around the U.S. and the world. The main chatroom seems a little disjointed. It's a bit like JD Salinger on meth. Private chats are great, though! So, if you see me online - whether or not I'm in the chatroom - don't hesitate to say hi. I'm open to chatting off-site once we've communicated here a bit. Some of my best friends have come from the chatroom and it's a wildly beautiful assortment of people from all over the planet.I think the international element of this site is one of the most intriguing. I used to host a lot of international visitors - ask me. What I do is kind of cool. The pandemic has given me an appreciation for connecting virtually via Skype/Zoom/Google Meet. It's a nice way to get to know people I might never have the opportunity to meet in person.
My Interests
Good conversation, reading, campouts, creative hobbies, house and garden projects, photography, a nice massage, eating in...I enjoy figurative art photography. I'm a rank amateur with a little Canon pocket camera and a tripod, but I enjoy the creative element. A friend of mine encouraged me to point the camera at myself. I found it an incredibly uplifting and affirming thing to do. It was great for my body image and self-esteem.I create YouTube content now and then. I've found it an interesting place to hopefully bring some kindness and peace to the world. Once I get to know you, I'm happy to share some links.
Movies
I have to say I have a soft spot for Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. Disney's Encanto also really hit home with me.
Music
I tend to go down different rabbit holes, though I haven't much gotten into music from the 2000s and beyond. So much of it is either loud, obsessively autotuned or negative. I like something I can sing along with and move to. That said, I'll make an exception for Apocalyptica. Those guys know how to rock a cello. And it turns out my 80-year old mother likes Queen. Who would have guessed?
My Heroes
I want to be Randall Munroe (xkcd.com) when I grow up.Is it wrong to say my piano teacher when I was a kid? She was the first African-American person I'd ever met and she did more to instill in me a sense of social justice, freedom and compassion by simply being the intelligent, accepting and beautiful person she was. I may never have become a great piano player - the fault was on me, not on her - but I became a much better person.
