Kind of off-the-wall guy in mid-life. Just finished my crisis and am contentedly exploring the second half of this journey. Was born into a typical mid-century American family and have worked hard to shed the standardized beliefs and burdens of that era. That includes clothes ... which leads me to this site. Who I'd like to meet
People of similar interests and people different from me. My life to this point has been full of the flurry of the American dream. It's been a great ride, but I now seem to be much more content with a great deal less. Wouldn't mind sharing time with others in similar life stages. Wouldn't mind sharing time with others with a completely different life experience. Looking for both teachers and students -- I learn from both. Also looking for people to photograph. Clothed or nude, doesn't matter. It's a recently-discovered passion and I'd love to take advantage of any offer to practice on others as subjects.
My Interests
I love the outdoors, although summers here make that difficult to enjoy. It's nearly too hot to do anything but go from one air-conditioned place to another. Yet, as I explore, I find more and more bits of this place that teach me something despite the heat. And with each new discovery, the heat is less and less oppressive. Quite a wonder, actually, that such a desolate place is so full. Given this new environment and a newly-found passion for photography, I spend as much time as I can shooting what I see. There's a hidden kingdom in the desert and a whole gritty underneathment in the city. I've become fascinated with the type of people who have moved here. It's a treasure trove. Would love to photograph more of them. Clothed or nude, doesn't matter. The story is usually in the face and it's my challenge to tell it through images. You can see I sometimes babble. Back to interests ... photography, healing arts, music, writing, swimming, hiking, Wii, cooking, massage, Reiki, junk shops --- it's amazing what people discard. I just discovered the Tecopa Hot Springs and expect I'll be visiting there regularly.
Movies
Wow. For someone who loves stories, it's kinda hard to believe that the last movie I saw in a theater was Avatar in its opening weeks. I watch enough movies at home, but haven't enjoyed a big screen in a long time. Here there's smoking everywhere and the theaters are in casinos. So, you are required to walk through a smoke-filled environment to see a movie and it seems to saturate my clothes. Once I find a stand-alone theater, I'm sure I'll start watching movies on the big screen again. There's really no other way to truly see a movie.
Music
My love of music goes all the way back and my interests are broad. I can listen to classical or rap and just about anything in between. There are some pieces, however, that just hit my ears as noise and I can't listen. Was a bit of a musical prodigy as a child, but recently awoke to find that I'd somehow lost my interest. I remember having music constantly from sunup to sundown and was pretty surprised to find that I'd not bought any new music in a decade. Gratefully, that's beginning to change.
My Heroes
There are many people whom I admire, but few I consider heroes. I guess heroes, to me, are more personal and therefore names you wouldn't recognize. But there are certainly people in my life who are personal heroes. They've stood by me or rescued me or just loved me. I've been lucky with heroes. They seem to appear just in the nick of time.
