Funny. I was listening to a radio show on CBC and they talked about how it was easier to get nudity into a TV show up here than it would in the States. Apparently, some of the shows that are picked up by American stations risk being censored slightly because broadcast rules in the U.S. are more stringent.

Not really. It's more difficult, yes. Rules, no. ( hence, a problem )
The US rules are governed by local community standards, so theoretically you could have an all nude TV show, provided the TV station only covered a nudist community. In fact, THAT station could theoretically be in jeopardy for broadcasting a CLOTHED TV show !
When you live in a country with such vague "rules" and you have the ultra-right do-gooders who get into a tizzy over a fleeting ( had to re-wind the tape about 6 times to catch it ) "wardrobe malfunction" and ambulance chasing lawyers, and the rules make each and every TV station licensee severally liable, not the network or program source, you will have ultra-conservative programming because of it. That's why so much American TV is useless drivel. One network screw-up ( or accident ) and you have 13,000 ambulance chasers sueing every one of the 2000 or so TV stations, invoking "community standards" in some 13000 "communities" for any number of "damaged" children. What can you expect ?
