Popularity Thing is all Wrong!
Popularity Thing is all Wrong!
Please try to follow this closely.
The popularity number is based on the number of hits on your profile. As the profile hits go up, your popularity number goes down meaning that your popularity has gone up.
If someone posts a rude, inflammatory or insulting comment many of us will think Who is this idiot? and click on their profile. This will cause their profile count to go up which causes the popularity count to go down which means their popularity is up.
Theoretically, this means that over time the least popular person on the site could become, (numerically), the most popular.
To avoid this gross injustice, I propose the addition of a Who is this Idiot? Button to bring up an offenders profile. Aside from bringing up the profile, this button would subtract two hits from the profile count and if you have been following, you know the rest. If flagging is necessary, the flag button would subtract in multiples of ten.
Before searching frantically for the Who is this Idiot? button, please note that this is posted under Humour and Fun

Phil, I hate to tell you this but an earlier post stated that there are only 100 active members, here, which means that you are less popular than 136 totally inactive members. Imagine how I feel.
I think your on to something Art.
I can just see someone using the "Mark this member as an idiot" feature to get at someone he or she really doesn't like. Depending on how it works, the "idiot" label may become a badge of honour in some cases.
Phil and Art, Y'all are both tops in my book but if you want to be popular with more people...well...maybe you should post somebody elses pictures as your own and pretend to be ecdysiasts.
Linda, are you saying that Phil and I are not "pretty enough" to be really popular? I don't know about Phil but while i'm ok with the stripping. I just don't dance well enough to be anecdysiast.
