RE: Do bras do more harm than good?

It's probably been somewhere @ 11 or so years that I've worn one. My doctor recommends I keep doing what I've been doing (no bra and 1200 IUs of vit. E daily) to keep the mammograms improved and less, if any calcifications.

That's a really interesting question, Gerry. I know of two women who've had breast reductions due to backaches, both were regular bra users. And I'm no longer in a position to ask them (one died and the other I lost track of years ago). While I'm not terribly large breasted, I do often suffer from back and neck pain. I'll start paying attention to whether or not it seems more or less on days when I wear a bra as opposed to the days I don't.Jen

RE: Do bras do more harm than good?

Some studies and research have eluded to the fact that bras serve no purpose other than fashion and can cause more harm than good. My wife wore various types of bras when she was younger, push ups, underwires, soft cup, padded, lined, unlined ... She went in annually for her mammograms and always seemed to have fibroid cysts and twice she had small lumps they had to remove and biopsy. Around that time, we found some bralettes and she felt more comfortable wearing those for the sole purpose of camoflauging her erect nipples in certain situations, especially at work. Since going to bralettes, my wife's mammo's have been clean for numerous years. Of course, she never wears anything at home and when it's just she and I ... she never wears one, so I think there's something to say about bras, their construction, the dyes, incorrect fit and the negative health issues that come with them. One thing I've never, ever understood is woman that sleep in them! LOL

I just think the guy or girl who invented Bra's should be shot ! I mean, why cover a beautifull breast ? But that's just me, and yes "Boobies Make Me Smile"

There was a recent study about this on the news. I'll have to look it up. I think it was held in France...

Do bras do more harm than good?My medically uneducated but observed answer is Yes!
My Asian lady is braless 99% of the time she is in Australia, in the house or down the street. However a totally different story back in Vietnam. She will not wear a bra in the house unless she is teaching a tutor student or has workmen in the house. But will be braless when women are in the house with her.
And its a rare occasion if she goes out of the house braless, its either because she has forgotten she is braless on the rare occasion or she has sufficient clothing or stick on nipple flowers to hide the errant erect nipple.
She feels a lot better without a bra, less pain, less sweating and less affect on her breathing. In her early 40's she still has perky BB's but alas gravity is having an effect, however she still looks good.
Why does she wear a bra? because in her mind society demands it.The same reason why getting her to accept Social Nudism freely is such an issue.
