Mowing in December!

Return to Discussions

Here it is December 6th and just finishedour last mow of the season and first mowing clothed. Sunny today but chilly. This grand Texas weather and all the rain we've had has kept it growing and us from mowing it. On a sad note as well we winterized our outdoor shower so no more uses until spring.

I mowed here in Indiana the day after Thanksgiving. Had to wear a jacket though. The grass is nice and green and it is supposed to be in the 50's and 60's all week. Might have to mow one more time.

I have to mow every week in December or the grass gets too long for the mowing to be easy!!

I haven't mowed my own lawn ... or any lawn for probably ... 20 years! Prior to that ... I mowed our backyard lawn and since we are always naked at home, I mowed that lawn naked all the time. I also used the weedeater and did all our backyard landscape maintenance while naked. But ... since it's rarely too cold to do yard maintenance, mowing, while naked, in December was not an issue.
Our current home, we also have a gardener but we removed our backyard lawn and put in an artificial turf putting green. I don't mow any lawns but I do practice my putting while naked ... that's as close to playing golf naked as I can get ... so far! :D

No mowing in December here, but it has been unseasonably warm. One day last week we hit 60 degrees with pure sunshine so I decided to put up the Christmas lights naked - a first for me!

I use my lawn as a permaculture crop with some going to the Chooks (poultry for you Americans) and the rest being used on my wicking beds as mulch to slow down evaporation and to add organic matter. Even so I have only a small part of my block which I mow as most is in garden or mowed by sheep.

Lawns, . . Pffft!Biggest waste of water & toxic runoff to plague our planet :(I've been trying to eradicate ours for years! So many Ignorant Sheeple don't get that So Cal is a DESERT, ¬ the phony Hollywood oasis image that is burned into so manybrains throughout the ages from movies to the printed media. We need REAL food (organic) free from toxic contaminants which isNOT what our water & grocery stores carry & stock.Unless of course you can afford to pay the extra "premium" for foodleft in it's NATURAL state, yes, ORGANIC ; )While you're out "fantasizing" about playing golf naked, I'm surethe folks up in Porterville, & ALL the other drought strickenareas, without ANY water AT ALL, are not so enthused about all theCLEAN water WASTED on superfluous golf courses!Does anyone in here know ANTHING about perma culture?Earthships?
Typical ... spouting off about something you know nothing
about.

Most golf courses have switched to reclaimed water to water the
courses. Most have eliminated much of the turf areas and are
replanting with drought tolerant plants. AND ... those that have
not yet done so are in the process of doing so!

How 'bout getting off that high horse of yours and give us all a
break! Hate this state, hate the people on this site, hate the so called "internet nudists" yet you come back over and over again to post here. If that truly is the case... pack it up
and hit the road. We don't need or appreciate your holier than thou
pontification! Your delivery in every one of your posts is
always negative and rude to others. How do you expect any
different response!?

Peace out!

My lawn is still growing in December this year and really needs mowing but the weather is too wet for my mower to do it without clogging up - apart from the fact that I don't like mowing in the rain.Add to that a temperature of about 40F with a significant wind chill factor and I certainly won't consider doing it naked - the way I prefer.
