There are types of nudists. Some are earthchild/hippie nudists, some are Hedonistic. This group is for pragmatic nudists, who engage simply because it makes the most sense to swim and sunbathe while naked.

The Pragmatic nudist in us all want to just be naked at nude beaches, always, because it is just the practical way to go, from a more evolutionary perspective, and for other reasons other people also may have.
From my perspective, it is practical to be a nudist at beaches and other low-clothing places when possible and legally feasible as much as possible, simply because it is simply better at the beach than wearing bad clothing that is just as revealing as beachwear, or for other low-clothing environments, than to wear beachwear or revealing clothing that teases the mind but is trying to elicit sex as a clothing choice.
To me, they might as well be naked, for better or for worse, because being naked just feels more practical.
The practicalness is that it reaveals truly how you are as a person, who you are naked is no different than who you are wearing clothes, really and truly. So what you bring with clothes, you and others ultimately bring without clothes.
Ideally, people should live with respect, and for all people, with or without clothes.
And being naked is just what feels better when on the beach and as possible in the low-clothes environments, as it gets rid of the hassels of clothing not needed, and the attitudes clothes sometimes bring.
And being naked is not inherently sexual, it is what we interpret from it. Same for the rest of life!
Nudity is not inherently sexual, but it does not mean nobody has fun forever when naked. Anyone can do whatever they want, with or without clothes. Some people just would rather do some things some of the time rather than at other times.
The good person in me always thinks of the other person, so, ideally, I believe nobody should do things that are not legalized Where Nudity Is Not Legalized.
However, nudity always is a good way to attract attention if you do a protest, at least in grabbing attention if you are going for that regardless of if you are worried about the status, so long as you know and accept that at any time anyone can get into trouble during some or all of the happenings at protests.
Ideally, at protests, everyone would like to stay safe, but not everyone can be granted that as a practical reality.
I reccomend using your own judgement and coming to your own conclusions regarding the protests aspects of nudity.
In other cases, my opinion is just to do non-protest nudity only where it is legal, but you are all free to have another opinion, and that is something I know everyone has, everyone has differing opinions.
I personally want my home country the United States to eventually adopt similar clothing optional laws like Denmark for legalized public nudity as legal ordinance in federal and state law nation-wide, but I am doubting that the Republican party will ever get behind that law, so I am just wanting the next government to have Democrats or a good third party adopt similar laws to the Danish Law on nudity at the federal level, as far as the United States where I live goes.

Naturism, as nudism is sometimes known, is a really cool movement if you look up the history. It started in the late 19th Century with German anarchist movements and French Primitive Anarachist movements!
If you look at the history, it was local Socialists, Anarchists, and Christian Socialists and other Christians who started the Western Movements Of NATURISM.
Nudism AS A PRACTICE is THOUSANDS of Years Old, dating from the BIRTH OF THE FIRST HUMAN in 555,000 BCE (557,026 Years ago all the way being everywhere until body louse and hair head louse insects developed into separate species about 78,000 Years ago, when nudists who included all humans who never wore large clothes, started wearing large clothes, beginning with the major groups in Africa and Asia of HUMANS in those regions and the Neaderthals and Denisovians species of Hominid primate mammals, our closest biological relatives until their extinctions 20,000-15,000 years ago! Our families of Humans and hominids began to wear clothing in 76,026 BCE. This was because of migrations to colder climates during the Ice Age and the development of different species of lice in the world!
For reference, the Universe is about 13 Billion Years Old.
People after this time would also have nudity present until the years around 1850 Common Era or A.D. in the Gregorian Calendar!
People were most prominantly naked among BOTH Men and Women and also among HIRJA and Third Gender People in INDIA among the AJIVIKA sect beginning in their first years from 330 BCE to 230 BCE and lasting as a MAJOR INDIC RELIGION until 1430 Common Era, or 1430 A.D. This group was know for their radically different acceptance of different people and acceptance of WOMEN as MONKS, and among others being known for BOTH MAJOR GENDERS and HIRJA practicing their MONASTIC PRACTICES in their ROCK-CUT CAVE MONESTARIES while FULLY NAKED AND NUDE!!

After Jesus and his apostles were living in Jerusalem, several groups of Christians came and emerged that came to do the work of the Christians who venerated Adam and Eve, and they worshiped Jesus, God, and Adam and Eve as NUDISTS worshipping these venerated figures all WITHOUT CLOTHES. Several of these SECTS OF NUDISTS AMONG CHRISTIANS were persecuted for Centuries, even to the PRESENT DAY in 2026!
I get naked to be one with the universe.
As far as nudists joining nudism and naturism for the first time, we all are more easily able to join on our own as individuals than to convince others to join us to naturists.
We need to make this a next-generation issue, so that we can share Nudism/Naturism with the next generation of adults. Because it will decline if people do not make it next-generation matter, and it might eventually cease to exist.
I previously was in the so-called next-generation, but I am from Generation Z, as I am 29 and am at the border between Milennials and Generation Z, as I was born in early 1997.
I remember being young and having conversion to the ideals of nudism and naturism privately through reading about it on wikipedia, and having to talk with my parents about it. They eventually became accepting of the fact I am a nudist, even though they remain non-nudists and non-naturists even right now.
