You could say I'm an open-minded nudist. I acknowledge the two sides of it: first is the pure feeling of sensorial freedom and unimpeded tactile connection with the air, water, and earth that lie outside; and then there's also the raw sexual experience of allowing yourself to get in touch with the fire within. I do not propose that lightly, as I genuinely believe valid human interactions can flourish in both scenarios. I'm not saying they're the same. I'm saying they're equal. If you'll indulge me, I can attempt to explain my point below.

My morals do not stem from that which is godly or that which is legal. They stem from weighing the pros and cons of any evaluated action to humanity. This puts me in agreement with most laws but in defiance of others. Is nudity legal? No. Should it be? Of course! Whenever the world is not going through a devastating pandemic, there are no damages to being nude. So what if people see you naked? In what way does that subtract from their well-being or safety or property or whatever? Why is it that nudity needs to be a crime? Does it hurt or kill people? Does it stop traffic and add hours to commutes? Does it poison anyone? No. Nudity does no harm, and it makes people happy. Any such activity should be legal and encouraged.

And here's the thing: read that last paragraph above replacing nudity with sex, and the arguments still apply.

A body is a body. Sex is sex. Get over it. I'd much rather have nude people chilling or fucking than people murdering each other, and yet the sight of violence is a-ok for books, movies, tv shows, news, cartoons, anime, music, comic books -- it's essentially everywhere. My tv is an obituary. We have trivialized hostility and criminalized nudity and sex between consenting adults. When I came across George R. R. Martin's quote about axes and skulls versus penises and vaginas, my whole take on nudity and sex felt perfectly summarized -- you might have noticed I'm not a fan of being concise -- although it lacks inclusive language. Here it is:

"I can describe an axe entering a human skull in great explicit detail and no one will blink twice at it. I provide a similar description, just as detailed, of a penis entering a vagina, and I get letters about it and people swearing off. To my mind this is kind of frustrating, its madness. Ultimately, in the history of [the] world, penises entering vaginas have given a lot of people a lot of pleasure; axes entering skulls, well, not so much."

I'm not aware of people actually using any defense for that state of affairs other than the aesthetic angle: people find human anatomy yucky, so your body needs to be stowed away out of sight, and you could go to prison and be registered as a sex offender for not complying. Well I find violence yucky. I find bar fights, death threats, road rages, school shootings, police brutality and wars both yucky and highly damaging. I find the innocence of nudity and the eroticism of coitus pleasant, fulfilling, and socially useful in that they both, in their distinct ways, promote bonding on levels that don't exist even in thought when you're a textile and when you're a prude.

Of course, thinking this way leads to an obligation if you want to stay logically honest and consistent: there is no difference, when it comes to the why's and how's, between defending nudity and sex with the arguments presented above and defending polyamory. Or recreational cannabis. Or coed locker rooms. Heck, make that open locker rooms built into the corner of a sports facility, with no walls at all as long as it's comfortable -- e.g. at an indoor pool or by a warm, sunny beach. I can't even think of how many issues can and should be revisited in this way. Any topic is subject to reevaluation.

What I'm saying is, once you take this approach to morals, you'll find yourself down a rabbit hole or a slippery slope and envision a radically changed world. And you know what? That's the world I dream of living in, every single night. No I'm not in a poly relationship; no I'm not a marijuana user; no I'm not proposing coed locker rooms in order to be able to see women naked in real life all the time. I'm a gay man. I specifically picked examples that don't apply to me just to show you I understand how my reasoning and moral judgement process has the potential to affect other areas. Like I said, a radically changed world. And I stand by my words. Let's make that world come true together.
